Lord, the rent is due and the money is not there, and the fear of it sits on my chest. Your word says to cast my burden on You and You will sustain me; so I am casting this one, because I cannot carry it and sleep at the same time. You see exactly how short I am and how few options I have left. Make a way for this month that I cannot see right now, and steady me so that panic does not drive my decisions. Give me the courage to ask for help — to talk to my landlord, to find what assistance exists, to let people in instead of hiding the trouble. Keep shame from silencing me. Provide for my home, Lord, and hold me up while I work this out. Amen.
