A prayer for you

Prayer for Police Officers

For the officer who says goodbye to their family not knowing what the shift holds — and for those who wait up for them.

The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.
Psalm 121:7-8 (WEBBE)

Lord, every shift I put on this uniform and step into a day I cannot predict — who I will meet, what they will be carrying, whether this is a routine call or the one that goes wrong. I cannot control any of it, so I give it to You, the One who keeps my going out and my coming in. Steady my discernment in the moments that move too fast to think. Keep me fair and steady when fear or anger would push me somewhere I would regret, and let me treat every person I meet today as someone You love. Watch over the family I left at home, and quiet the worry they carry while I am gone. Hold the partner riding beside me. I will not pretend the danger is not real, and I cannot promise anyone how today ends; I am only placing it, and myself, into hands that never sleep. Keep my coming in, Lord. Amen.
