Lord, my wife and I long for a child, and the waiting is wearing on us both — on her especially, in ways I cannot fully reach. Your word promises that You go before us and will never leave us nor forsake us, whatever this road holds. So go before us now, into a future I cannot see or control. Be with my wife in the private grief she carries, the disappointment that comes around again and again, the hopes raised and dashed. Guard me from ever letting her feel that her body has failed us, or that more faith would fix this — because that is simply not true, and she does not need that weight added to her own. Help me grieve alongside her honestly, and love her no less, with a child or without. Keep us tender toward each other through a longing that could harden into resentment. Whatever comes, do not let this break us. Go before us, Lord, and stay with us. Amen.
