Lord, I keep trying to carry this for my sister — to manage it, research it, hold all the worry so she won't have to — and it is crushing me. You tell me to cast my burden on You and let You sustain me, so I am prying my fingers loose and handing it over. I cannot control the scans or the treatments or the outcome; I give every bit of it to You, who never once sleeps over her, even when I finally do. Sustain my sister through the hard stretch, and sustain me, so I can keep showing up warm and steady. Let her feel, in the small kindnesses of these days, how dearly she is loved. And when I reach to take the weight back, gently remind me whose shoulders are stronger. I trust her to You. Amen.
