A prayer for you

Prayer for My Mother Starting Chemotherapy

Watching your mother begin chemo, you may fear the toll on a body that's already given so much.

As your days, so your strength will be.
Deuteronomy 33:25 (WEBBE)

Lord, my mother begins chemotherapy now, and it is hard to watch this come for a woman who has carried so many other people's hard things, so quietly, for so long. Your word promises that as her days are, so her strength will be — so I am asking You to ration out strength to her precisely, enough for each day as that day demands it, no day left unmet. Carry her through the sickness and the bone-weariness the treatment brings. Let her keep her dignity through its indignities. Bless the hands of the nurses who care for her. And steady me to be present and useful for however long this takes — a son's strength under my mother's arm when her own gives out. As her days, so her strength, Lord; be exactly that for her now. Amen.
