Lord, my husband lives with chronic pain, and I watch it quietly chip away at the future we imagined together. Your word says that when flesh and heart give out, You remain the strength of his heart forever; be that strength on the days his own deserts him. I ask for relief for him — hopeful, honest — while leaving in Your hands what I cannot mend. Soothe the flare-ups that ambush him out of nowhere, and lift the despondency of a body that keeps letting him down. Help me stand beside him without slipping into resentment or pity, and to keep seeing my husband and not merely his diagnosis. Grant the specialists real insight into easing it. Be his strength, Lord, in the frailty this pain has forced on him. Amen.
