Lord, Your word promises that You give power to the weak and increase the strength of the one who has no might — and my husband is about to need that promise, because chemotherapy will make him weaker before there is any hope of better. Be his strength when his own is spent. Meet him in the infusion chair and in the flattened days that follow, and pour strength into a body the treatment will empty. Bless the nurses who tend the lines and watch over him. Help me to carry the ordinary weight of our life, so he can spend what little energy he has on healing. And when he feels least like himself, remind us both that he is not less loved for being weak. Strengthen my husband, Lord, as only You can. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for My Husband Starting Chemotherapy
Watching him begin chemo means bracing for him to get worse before he gets better; that is a hard kind of hope.
“He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.”
