Lord, the surgery is done, and now I am the one at his bedside — fetching water, watching the clock for the next dose, learning to read his face for pain he won't admit to. Your word says two are better than one, that when one falls the other lifts him up, and I have never understood our marriage vows more clearly than I do now. Give me the stamina to be his strength while his own returns. Heal the place where they worked, and guard against anything that would set him back. Keep us patient with each other through the soreness and the short tempers that come with healing. And while we wait on what the results will say, hold us both. We are better together; help me lift him well. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for My Husband After Surgery
Tending him through recovery is love with its sleeves rolled up; here are words for the weary nurse-spouse.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up.”
