Lord, my grandmother is recovering, and I am grateful in a way that catches in my throat — more days with her than I had feared we might get. Your word is her old testimony and now my prayer: surely goodness and loving kindness will follow her all the days of her life. Let that be true of these new days You are handing back to her. Strengthen her gently; she does not bounce back the way the young do. Keep her comfortable, surrounded, unhurried. And help us not waste this reprieve — to sit longer at her table, to write down her stories before they slip away, to tell her plainly what she has meant to us. Goodness and mercy have followed her a long and faithful way, Lord; let them follow her still, through all the days that remain. Thank You for my grandmother. Amen.
A prayer for you
Prayer for My Grandmother During Recovery
As your grandmother recovers, gratitude for more time with her can feel almost too tender to hold.
“Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the LORD's house forever.”
