Lord, my grandfather is recovering, and I find myself hoping greedily for more — more Sunday afternoons, more of his stories told for the hundredth time, more years of him at the head of the table. Your word holds a blessing I dare to pray over him: may he yet see his children's children. Thank You for the strength returning, slowly, to a body that has served so long and so well. Be gentle with his recovery, for he mends more slowly now. Guard him from setback, and quiet the fear in all of us that this reprieve is a fragile thing. Help us fill whatever time You give with presence and honour and gratitude. If he is to see his children's children grow, Lord, what a gift that will be; and if his time proves shorter than we hope, let it still be full and unhurried. Bless my grandfather with good days. Amen.
A prayer for you
