Lord, we are waiting on my father's results, and waiting is its own torment for a man like him, who has always coped by doing something about a problem — and there is nothing to do here but wait. Your word says You are good to those who wait for You, that it is good to hope and quietly wait for Your salvation. So teach my dad, and teach me, the hard discipline of quiet waiting. Steady him in a stillness he is not built for. Keep his thoughts, and mine, from sprinting ahead to verdicts we do not yet have. Help me sit with him in the not-knowing without papering over it with false cheer or grim speculation. We hand the timing, and the answer, and the worry, over to You. You are good to those who wait, Lord; make us good at waiting on You, and hold my father until we know. Amen.
