Lord, my daughter serves in the military, and I am proud of her courage even as it costs me sleep. Your word calls You the strength of our salvation, the One who covers our head in the day of battle; cover my girl, in every sense, wherever she is posted. Watch over her among dangers I can barely let myself picture, and in the daily grind that asks so much of her. Guard her body and her spirit, and keep her strong without letting the work make her hard. Send her good people and true friends in the ranks. Hold me steady when the worry crowds in. I cannot stand between her and harm or pretend she is beyond it; I can lift my daughter, again and again, to the One who covers her. Keep her, Lord, and bring her home. Amen.
