Lord, the chemotherapy starts for my child today, and if I could load every dose and every side effect onto my own back and walk away with it, I would do it without a second thought. I cannot — the weight is theirs to carry in a body far smaller than mine — so I bring it to You, who Your word says daily bears our burdens. Carry what my child cannot, and what I am not allowed to carry for them. Be underneath the worst days like a floor that will not give way. Keep some lightness in them through the heaviness — a cartoon, a friend, one good hour. And carry me too, on the nights I would give anything to trade places. You bear our burdens every single day, Lord; bear my child now. Amen.
