Lord, my little one gets frightened and overwhelmed in ways too big for such a small heart, and I cannot always calm the storm inside them. Your word tells of You speaking to the wind and the waves — Peace, be still — and a great calm coming over the sea. Speak that calm over my child now. Soothe the fears at bedtime, the worries they cannot explain, the upsets that feel enormous to them. Give them a deep-down sense of being safe and held. And give me patience and gentleness to be Your calm to them, over and over. Still the storm in my child, Lord, and let them rest in peace. Amen.
