Lord, my heart is broken, and some mornings the weight of it surprises me all over again. They say grief comes in waves, and tonight the water is high. Draw near to me as You promise to draw near to the broken-hearted. I do not need to be talked out of my sorrow; I need to know I am not alone inside it. Hold the love that has nowhere to go now and keep it from turning into despair. Let me grieve without shame and remember without only pain. Be close, Lord — closer than my sadness — until I can breathe again. Amen.
