Lord, there are difficult people in my life, and Your call to love them and pray for them is one of the hardest things You ask. Your word says to love even those who are against us, to bless and not curse, to pray for those who make life hard; I cannot do that in my own strength. Soften my heart toward the person I am thinking of right now. Keep me from contempt, gossip, and quiet revenge, and from letting their behaviour turn me into someone bitter. Help me set wise boundaries without hatred, and to see them as a person You love, however they act. I do not have to pretend their behaviour is fine; I do have to keep my own heart clean. Give me grace for the difficult people in my life, Lord, and guard me from becoming one. Amen.
