Lord, layoffs are happening, and whether I have lost my job or am bracing to, the ground under my plans has shifted. Your word says I can plan my course, but it is You who directs my steps — so direct them now, because the path I was counting on has changed. Steady me through the fear and the blow to my confidence; a job lost can feel like a verdict on my worth, and I need to know that it is not. Provide for me and my family in the gap, in ways I may not expect. Open doors I cannot see, and give me the resolve to keep knocking. Be with my colleagues facing the same uncertainty, and with the managers carrying the weight of hard decisions. I cannot know how or when this resolves, and I will not pretend I am not anxious; I am asking You to walk this stretch with me, and to anchor my worth in something deeper than my work. Direct my steps, Lord, one at a time. Amen.
