A prayer for you

Prayer Before Driving

A short prayer for the moment before you turn the key.

The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.
Psalm 121:8 (WEBBE)

Lord, key in hand, I take a breath and ask You over this drive before I pull away. Your word says You guard our going out and our coming in — so guard this trip. Make me patient at the wheel, attentive, and considerate of the cars around me. Cover the lapses I cannot predict in myself or in other drivers, and look after the children, cyclists, and strangers sharing the tarmac today. If the rain comes or the traffic snarls, give me a cool head and a light foot. Get me to my destination and back to my door. I drive under Your keeping rather than my own reflexes. Guard my going out and coming in, Lord. Amen.
