Father, the clock says midnight and sleep has slipped away from me. Rather than lie here counting the hours, I will do what the psalmist did and lift thanks to You in the dark. Thank You for today's gifts I was too busy to notice, and for being awake beside me now. If there is someone You want me to pray for at this strange hour, bring them to mind and I will. Then loosen my thoughts and let rest return when it is ready. I am content to be awake with You a while, Lord. Amen.
